ChemV21, Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry
ChemV21 is designed as a one-semester introduction to organic chemistry and biochemistry. It is for students who are pursuing degrees in health-related fields, including BSNs, nutritional science, dental hygiene, and veterinary technicians. Topics include brief overviews of nomenclature, properties, and major reactions of all major organic functional groups, biological macromolecules, molecular biology, and metabolic cycles.
It is highly recommended that students have taken basic chemistry at a high school or preparatory level before enrolling in this course. Acid-base chemistry, Lewis structures, polarity, and atomic structure are important pre-requisite knowledge.
